The Role Of A Teaching Philosophy Statement - 1408 Words

The Role of a Teaching Philosophy Statement (TPS) Personal development is one aspect of gaining new information to enhance skills, abilities and overall knowledge. The development of a TPS, is a personal analysis of general concepts of teaching, learning, observations and experiences, transferred into the learning environment (Caukin, 2017). Consequently, the statement is intimate, insightful, with an inclusion of personal views of the aspects of teaching, foundation of learning, in addition to the application of the philosophy (Chism, 1998). In general, the TPS is to serve as a guide to aid the reader in understanding your viewpoint as a teacher, assist in developmental changes as well as professional growth (Boyle, 2012). As a†¦show more content†¦Consequently, the early system evolved with persons in lower classes receiving minimum instruction and upper classes allowance to pursue learning beyond the basics (Gelbrich, 1999). Equally important is the progression of access to equal opportunity leading to the subsequent decision on equal access for women, people of color and the disabled. The pathway to success along with the potential to increase economic security is education. Martin Luther King, Jr. is distinguished for this quote: â€Å"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education†. This is an important truth to fully engage learners and inspire the desire to acquire more. As a young child, I was blessed to have bedtime stories read to me several nights a week, to have all of the Dr. Seuss books and the ability to read when I started kindergarten. Transitioning into the classroom setting to kindergarten, I was one of the assistant, the milk monitor to aid the teacher in distributing milk, cookies and collecting the money.
